Annotations have changed every thing and lots of version updates/upgrades are made just to support them. Yes they have developers to get rid of lots of xml schemas and files at the same time,”Annotations have been more successful than XML”

But are those XML files really bad ?

I don’t think so XML files are always good ways to make configurations and increase ease of reading and writing. Why I am writing this, because last Servlet 3.0  and EJB API have a little more that enables you for annotation usage. So be careful while using them

annotations are binary configurations and disable configuration changes
