Software development can be really very complex process with lots of parties in it. Each party has its own process responsible and interactions. While your project cute and sweet project is getting more and more complex, each one will begin to feel some pain.   You will need more complex tools to handle more interaction with ends up with more pain.

For I am in the development department, I am more familiar with these (inevitable) agony. but developer have a really different vision over them. I guess it is because they are really get used to simplify problem for their customers and provide required tools for them. They can easily  provide very original and useful ideas to your all process.

Use this potential energy for your process !!!

You can of course take your parties in a review meeting and find some really useful ideas.

Of course it is more practical and common than any other.

But here I want to discuss is some thing very different and might surprise every body.

Leave your developers alone

yes that might sound strange but leave them to do something that they have been waiting for sometime to do.If you find it as a very expensive experiment. then say them

Try whatever your idea what you think it would work to make it this project any better

What can be result?

they might

• improve your product’s performance – optimization
• improve your development performance – (eg: an ide plugin for your own tools)
• introduce you a new infrastructure/framework what might save lots of time

Just leave them to play with their toys

this will also

• motivate them (self improvement)
• improve their participation
• easy the pain of your project
