working in a datamine

For the last few weeks I am working as a data miner 
This is a really hard work to do. In fact for me it is even harder.
java developer != DBA
Think of a domain that you know totally nothing since it is a new job and a new domain to me.
What I have in my hands?
- no time (of course it is a time limited and urgent project)
- pseudo-code: does not cover domain but just a result of reverse engineering
- a colleague who has already resigned and a month up the last his last working day. Thanks, he is helpful and patient
- totally new framework that has no up2date dependency
I know it is not a good start.
What I have done up to now:
- I figured out database schema and domain (only a small portion of total) estimated: %2
- I got used to my new multinational company: think of an office that has more than 6 native languages: Dutch,Ukraine, Indian, Zimbabwe, Turkish, Chinese
- I have finished half of the requested queries
- learned more SQL in a week than I have learned for 4 years
- one more week to go
